O’Connor and Sheila Cooney are the husband and wife team behind Dublin City Spirits. Returning to Ireland from abroad after 25 years, they set their dreams on building a brand for the city we call home.

 They’re both Irish Designers and wanted to set up a company in order to work together for the first time. Sheila’s career path was in visual merchandising starting here in Dublin, then to London and Edinburgh before further afield to Asia. She also found time to have 4 children and now guides our marketing effort and is part of the image of Dublin City Gin, hands on from harvesting rhubarb to giving tasting events.

 After college Jim joined an advertising group, then lead creative efforts as Dublin’s Millennium designer for 1988 celebrations, followed by a year in RTE national TV. Soon they married and set sights to travel and work abroad.

 Jim is a global creative leader with 25 years experience internationally, specializing in strategic brand & product creative development, most recently in Los Angeles as Global VP of Brand & Image for the Walt Disney Company. Today he says “Mickey drove him to drink” and is our visionary, brand builder, budding distiller, and spirit guru.

Jim & Sheila are proudly independent producers with a passion for the highest quality product and creativity. Together they form the heart of Dublin City Spirits.
